In this episode, we discuss the practice of ticket touting, now largely an online phenomenon involving electronic tickets. We explain how individuals and even legitimate businesses engage in fraudulent activities, such as using multiple fake identities to bypass ticket purchase limits, and discuss how ticket sellers themselves sometimes collude with touts for a kickback.
We also discuss the changing experience of attending live events in large stadiums and advocate for being present in the moment rather than recording the show on a phone. Ultimately, we suggest free, local tribute band concerts as a more authentic and enjoyable alternative to overpriced major events plagued by touts.
