Setting goals is important, and not just at the start of the new yearm although that's traditionally when we all start thinking about them. In essence, they help us to trigger new behaviors, help guides our focus, and help us to sustain that momentum in life, at any time of the year. So, goals can help align your focus and promote a sense of moving forward, making progress. In the end, you can't manage what you don't measure and you can't improve upon something that you don't properly manage!
At work, motivation, vision, accountability, and fulfillment (or success) are the four most important outcomes of goal setting. These outcomes help people to realise their contribution to the larger (company) picture, and strive towards achieving it.
A well-planned goal will increase your willingness to succeed, both as an individual or as a team. So, by establishing the importance of goals in your life, you can give yourself a concrete destination to your journey, whether at work, or in your personal life.
Ask yourself these questions:
Which direction are you heading in?
Where do you want to be by 2024?
